Residents in San Antonio can expect a shift in weather patterns beginning Tuesday, as the National Weather Service predicts multiple days of potential precipitation. The forecast indicates that showers may occur on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The highest probability of rain is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, with more than half the region likely to experience wet conditions during those two days.

The area has seen a notable increase in precipitation over the past year. Records from San Antonio International Airport show nearly 30 inches of rain have fallen since January 1. This total is only two inches higher than the historical average for this time of year. Bexar County entered the current season after a rainy July and the remnants of Hurricane Polo in September. However, the county has been moving back toward drought conditions in the interim.

Meteorologists note that the upcoming rain brings cooler temperatures. Highs for Thursday and Friday will mostly stay in the 70s, accompanied by cloudy skies. This stands in contrast to the weekend, which should be warmer and drier. A statement from the National Weather Service indicated that isolated showers might linger into Friday night and Saturday. Dry weather is expected to return from Saturday night through Monday.

Flash flooding remains a possibility for the midweek rain events. Officials state that the forecast will sharpen as the week progresses. For the Halloween holiday on October 31, the outlook is largely favorable. Trick-or-treaters can expect a very slight chance of showers, with any rain clearing before nightfall. Temperatures at that time should reach the mid-70s.

This week marks the beginning of the fall weather season for the region. High temperatures are projected to hover just above or below 80 degrees, while early morning lows will sit in the 60s. Cold fronts are expected to arrive with greater frequency during October and November.

According to local weather records, the first freeze in San Antonio typically occurs around the Thanksgiving holiday. The date may vary by a few days on either side of that period.

The National Weather Service advises residents to monitor updates as the week unfolds. The combination of recent rainfall and the current front system sets the stage for a wet midweek.
