The KLRN Play and Learn series begins on December 1 at the YMCA Southside Early Learning Center, offering families in Bexar County a structured program for early childhood development. The initiative is designed to provide parents and caregivers with resources to support their children through guided play and educational materials.

Sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The program takes place at the YMCA facility located at 835 W. Southcross in San Antonio. Families will meet twice a week to participate in parallel play experiences, which allow children to interact independently while observing peers. During these meetings, participants will also receive instruction on developmental milestones appropriate for their child's age.

Each session includes the distribution of specific materials for use at home. Participants will receive children's books, take-home activities, and other resources intended to extend the learning environment beyond the center. These items are provided to help families integrate early learning concepts into daily routines at home.

The program aims to connect families within the community while encouraging curiosity and creativity in young children. KLRN describes the series as a way to make learning a enjoyable part of everyday life for families. The format supports parents who are looking for opportunities to support their child's early development or who wish to connect with other local families.

Funding for the Play and Learn program is provided by three entities: the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, and the Najim Family Foundation. This financial support allows the program to offer its services and materials to participating families.

For general inquiries, families can contact Daisy at (210) 208-8458 or send an email to playandlearn@klrn.org. The program also maintains a separate contact point for military families. Adamari is available at (210) 208-8405 or via email at militaryfam@klrn.org to assist service members and their families in joining the series.

KLRN has provided program details in both English and Spanish to ensure accessibility for the diverse population of Bexar County. The Spanish version of the announcement, titled "Juegar, aprender y crecer juntos," mirrors the information available in English. Both versions confirm the start date, location, and contact methods for the new series.
