Jay-Z will perform the halftime show for Super Bowl LXI. The NFL, Apple Music, and the rapper announced the selection on Monday. The game is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

In a statement, Jay-Z reflected on his career trajectory. He noted that the journey from releasing his debut album to standing on the Super Bowl stage has been a dream come true. He described the moment as thirty years of music, work, and culture converging on the world's largest stage.

The news broke during a Monday night football game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. Apple Music shared the announcement on social media, confirming the artist's participation.

Roc Nation, Jay-Z's company, has produced the Super Bowl halftime shows since 2019. The firm recently signed a five-year contract extension that keeps it in charge of the production through 2029. Since taking over, the halftime events have placed a stronger emphasis on hip-hop and rap.

The previous halftime show took place last year at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Bad Bunny headlined that event, with special appearances by Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin. The last Super Bowl held in Los Angeles was in 2022. That show featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar, alongside 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak.

Other recent performers include Kendrick Lamar and SZA in 2025, Usher in 2024, and Rihanna in 2023. Despite his connections to the league and many past performers, Jay-Z has never performed at a Super Bowl before. He is a winner of 25 Grammy Awards.

The rapper is currently on tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint. The Jay-Z 30 tour began with three nights at Yankee Stadium in July. He then played two shows in London and one in Paris in September. His final scheduled performances for the tour are on October 23 and 24 at SoFi Stadium, the same venue where he will perform in February.
