Milwaukee Brewers rookie left-hander Robert Gasser faced the minimum 18 batters through six innings to lead a 10-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night. The win at Tropicana Field moves the Brewers to a 3-0 lead in the World Series. They need one more win to claim their first championship.

Gasser allowed only one hit, a line-drive single to Yandy Díaz in the first inning. He retired the next 14 batters in a row. That streak ended when Victor Mesa Jr. walked to start the sixth. Gasser became the first starter to face the minimum since Curt Schilling in 2001. He was the first left-hander to do so since Sandy Koufax in 1965.

The Brewers took the game away in the fifth inning. They scored eight runs on seven straight hits, a postseason record. All seven hits came with two outs. This marked the first time in World Series history a team scored eight two-out runs in a single inning.

Jackson Chourio started the rally with a single and then stole second base. He finished the game 4 for 5. Brice Turang hit a two-run single, and Cooper Pratt grounded a two-run double. Chourio also collected an RBI double in the seventh inning. He became the second-youngest player with four hits and a stolen base in a World Series game.

Tampa Bay starter Freddy Peralta gave up five runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings. Rays manager Kevin Cash said Peralta tried to power through inconsistencies. Cash described the team's position with a chip-on-the-shoulder mentality. The Rays are scheduled to have Griffin Jax start Game 4 Tuesday night.

The Brewers have won eight straight postseason games. They also won their fourth consecutive game on the road. Brandon Woodruff pitched the ninth inning for Milwaukee. He had been out for 3 1/2 months with a shoulder injury. The Brewers are led by 67-year-old manager Pat Murphy.

The Rays led the American League with 98 wins in the regular season. They swept the Yankees in the Division Series and beat the Guardians in six games in the ALCS. The Brewers led the majors with 103 wins. They beat the Padres in four games and swept the Dodgers in the NLCS. A win in Game 4 would make them the first team to sweep both the LCS and the World Series since the 1976 Cincinnati Reds.
